interviewed at the world series

So my friend, Jen, is a huge Red Sox fan and Eric and I convinced her and her fiance, Craig, last minute to go to the World Series Game 4 in Denver this past Sunday. As you (should) know, the Red Sox swept the Colorado Rockies and won the World Series that night.

From what I can piece together from her completely screamed-out voice, she and Craig were interviewed by the Boston Globe and a local Denver paper; she won yelling matches by herself against a whole section of Rockies fans; she received death threats for yelling so loud; and Rockies fans tried to get her kicked out of the game for her loudness.

Anyways, here are the links to boston.com that feature her and Craig at the game (P.S. – Craig is wearing the giant beer hat):

Check out my new pet, Sonar, that I’ve adopted for Halloween. I found him randomly while blog surfing at the NaBloPoMo site. Click on the “more” tab for some fun.

nice kitty!

I’ve joined NaBloPoMo ‘07 – National Blog Posting Month – which means I’ll be posting every day during the month of November. Or trying. Soooo, if you have interesting material you think I should blog about, lemme know. Otherwise, I will write as I please. Anyway, check in often as I may need encouragement because I’m not sure I have 30 continuous days of interesting posting material in me.

pink for october

I realize my last version was also pink, but I felt a bit guilty for joining the cause by default. So here it is: a pink for October template with a bit of modification. I have no imagination. And I’m lazy.

no drugs allowed!

Due to the sheer volume of medicinal spam comments this blog gets, I have begun a blacklist of drugs. (Mom: A blacklist is a list of words that if mentioned will automatically mark the comment as spam.) I literally get over 300 spam comments per 2 days, and I’ve had just about enough.

Henceforth, if you’d like to talk about a certain prescription by name, beat around the bush instead. :)

habits

As I get older (I’ll be 25 this year), I’ve come to realize that I’m not perfect and have not reached the pinnacle of superiority. I can only assume this means I’m finally becoming an adult. Damn it; damn it all to hell. With this realization, however, I’ve begun my self-improvement campaign.

Since Valentine’s Day 2006, I resolved to eat at least one fruit or vegetable per day. Originally just for the month of February, this resolution has spawned into a lifestye change. I regularly shop in the produce section now. I now crave fruit. I regularly drink orange and apple juices not from concentrate. I even occasionally eat salad. This good habit has now reduced my intake of pop and junk food snack foods too.

Since then I’ve also (almost) broken a bad habit. At the very least, reduced its grasp on my life. I’ve almost stopped biting my nails. I can now tap my fingers on a surface and make noise instead of just the thump of my fingers. I’ve limited myself to chewing on just the first finger of my left hand when I really just can’t stop. I even paint them from time to time, and they look much healthier, cleaner, and more comely than my previous nubs. I had to purchase several emery boards to keep at work and home so that I don’t bite them when they get rough – I can’t STAND it when I’ve got a hangnail – and I still relapse and take off a couple, but overall over 3/4 of my fingers have pretty nails.

I also really want to learn Spanish. Maybe that’s next on the list. I think being a linguist would be cool, and I know more Spanish than anything else. French is a close second, but Spanish is just way more practical here. German would be fun too, since Eric speaks it. But again, practicality. I would use Spanish most, and therefore have a better retention and more people to practice with.
