my wiikend
Update: Boxing champ, right here!
Well, my weekend turned into a wiikend. Yes, we bought a Wii and Super Paper Mario, and get this: we bought the first of 8 Wiis from Target. We shopped around the store a bit more, decided on a second controller, and went back to find the last Wii in mid-purchase. Eight Wiis in a half-hour!
Anyways, we brought it home and started playing, and its pretty fun. Super Paper Mario has both 2-D and 3-D integrated game play, and it incorporates levels and characters from the original Super Mario Bros. 8-bit NES game. The only bummer is the 1/2 hour intro of plot setup. We also have Wii Sports, which has baseball, bowling, tennis, golf, and boxing. That is multiplayer and should be plenty entertaining – we’re waiting for our roommate to get home to enjoy this one.
No commentscongratulations, jen hammond!
Big news, everyone! One of my best friends (Jen Hammond) is getting married! Her beau – Craig – popped the question with the help of David Ortiz…you may have heard of him; he plays for the Boston Red Sox…at the BoSox/Diamondbacks game in Arizona last weekend. Hopefully I’ll have a link to the video soon.
PS – For those who would recognize the person over the name, Jen and I played softball at Willamette together. She was the red-headed left-fielder with the knee brace who wore number 12. She also accompanied Eric, Sean, and I to Montana one 4th of July. And we were nigh inseparable palling around the CS dept. in Collins at WU.
No commentsgreat pains
This weekend was our women’s tournament; ladies from several different teams pooled together to form our team. First inning of our first game, I roll my right ankle outward rounding first (it was a great hit up the middle). It popped – I both felt it and heard it. Nonetheless, I walk off the field, don an ankle brace, and tough it out (we had no subs due to illness) playing right-centerfield and running the bases for myself (the pinch-runner was afforded to our pregnant girl).
Between games I put some ice on it – its a bit swollen but not bad, so again I tough it out in the field. This time, however, they allow a second pinch-runner for me. This was great as the second dose of Ibuprofen was wearing out.
Day 2: My ankle looks like it could easily conceal a tennis ball inside. The skin is a purply-brown. I have a severe limp when walking. Game over for me, for awhile. *pout* I think its just a sprain since I’m not in agony all of the time, although it has continued to swell some today. If it gets much worse, I’ll probably see a doc, although I don’t want to pay money for someone to tell me to ice it and keep it elevated.
And I really also wanted to plant my trees this weekend!
